There were few sports competitions held in our local area which again led me to think what differentiates the stars from the rest..
I heard people commenting that the winners are gifted sportsmen. I DO NOT agree. Star performers are gifted and talent lies only with a few is a myth. I am a firm believer that each person has a unique potential deep within us.
What separates the stars from the rest boils down to 2 things… Attitude and Mastery.
What I mean by mindset is not a winning mindset but a mindset of relentless focus. And Mastery is the mastery of the craft itself.
Anders Ericsson who is the world’s leading authority on the science of peak performance introduced the “10,000-hour rule”. Anders discovered that we ALL have the same gift as the absolute best among us. But what makes the difference between the greatest performers and everyone else is the ability to incrementally master the chosen set of skills and to consistently aggregate those improvements over an extended period of time. Research in a wide range of fields has substantiated the ten-year rule or “10,000-hour rule”. The study has shown that, in math, science, musical composition, swimming, tennis, literature—no one, not even the most “talented” performers, became great without at least ten years of very hard preparation.
Do you know that Mozart put in EIGHTEEN years of diligent training before he created something truly extraordinary?
The fact is we ALL have the gift of greatness and its up-to us to fully utilize this potential. It comes with a mindset of complete focus and deliberate practice.
So folks, Greatness rests only with a few is a myth. Bust it!
Great performance is available to you, to your kids, to your friends and to everyone. Embrace your potential and start building the muscle of greatness.
Until Next,
Keep Smiling..
