Good Nights Sleep

My best friend’s father would often tell me “A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything.” Probably he said that because of my loud and teary laughters and my art of falling asleep in the crowded trains.

Even today laughter and sleep are my effortless tasks and I hope I can carry this along J.. I find these powerful anti-dotes to stress. A good laugh and I can literally feel the stress free harmones ruling my body and a sound sleep recharging every cell of the body and providing the coping ability to face the day’s highs and lows.

Both seem to be in deficiency these days. The conversations we have during the day, the activities and the job we do, using our phones at night, exercises we do or do not do during the day, travelling all affect our hormone levels and in turn our quality of sleep.

Studies have shown that insufficient sleep is associated with a number of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity and depression.

Often when we get into bed, we drag with us all of the cares and worries of the day. Instead of continuing to mentally regurgitate a laundry list of unfinished obligations and concerns, shifting the focus to something that’s relaxing helps.

Exercise and Yoga during the day and reading a book, relaxed breathing are some of the practices that help me get a good night’s sleep.

What steps do you take in order to get a good night’s sleep?

Until Next,

Keep Smiling..
